About the Teachers Advantage Pass

An extended loan period of up to 42 days is available for some library materials from the branches of Carroll County Public Library.

ELIGIBILITY

Eligible borrowers are public, private, and parochial school teachers in elementary, secondary, college/graduate and adult education schools. Group day care centers, certified nursery schools, family day care providers, tutors affiliated with a literacy program, and approved home educators are also eligible. The school's location or the educator's residence must be in Carroll County.

In cases of any doubt about eligibility, an official document stating that the school or individual is licensed/certified by a Carroll County agency or State of Maryland may be required.

SELECTION OF MATERIALS

Books, audio, and instructional video materials are included. Because of their shorter loan period, feature film videos are not. Use of the educator loan card does not convey public performance rights for videos. Materials must relate to work assignments; extended loan periods are not available for personal interests. Extended loans are available only on materials owned by the Carroll County Public Library.

LENGTH OF LOAN

A maximum of 42 days is allowed for materials, with no renewals. Since this loan period reduces the availability of materials to the general public, librarians may refuse a 42-day loan for materials in high demand. (Examples of high-demand materials are those needed by the general public for school assignments, holiday and seasonal material at the time of the holiday, and all the copies of a popular title. Specific material in high demand may vary from branch to branch.) The senior librarian on duty in a library has the final judgment on a loan period.

REGISTRATION

Registration is automatic for faculty of Carroll County Public Schools. Other teachers must verify their eligibility by writing a request on school letterhead that is signed by the principal, director, or librarian. Registration is annual, beginning on August 1. All cards expire on August 31 of the following year, with the exception of CCPS, which expire on September 30.

FINES AND FEES

Email notification is provided to borrowers on the day after items are due. Educators receive a 10-day grace period from the due date before fines are charged. Replacement costs for lost or damaged material may be waived for items checked out on an educator loan card. However, borrowers are expected to handle this privilege responsibly. If chronic problems of losses occur, a teacher's loan privilege may be revoked for the year. Revocation of borrowing privileges due to abuse of any CCPL rules/regulations is at the discretion of the senior librarian. Proper documentation is required to replace a lost card.

GROUP DAY CARE CENTERS

Registration and borrowing privileges are the same as those described above.

FAMILY DAY CARE PROVIDERS

Registration requires a valid certificate issued by the Department of Human Resources, Child Care Administration. Borrower's cards are valid through the expiration date of the day care certificate. Borrowing privileges are the same as described above.
